With heavy vehicles, not a lot of options. A town near us uses the red light cameras and DW got nicked by one when her choice was go through and get the ticket or slam on the brakes and slam our old dog into the back of the seat. She had not yet trained for the punch the gas pedal option.
I was driving the MH at the same intersection another time and had to slam on the brakes to stop. I was not in the intersection but the strobes flashed anyway, apparently the sensors in the intersection tripped off the heavy metal mass of the RV behind the stop line.
They are definitely going for the revenue. Was out late at night and coming back through one of the red light camera intersections, no other cars around. The signal changed, which I would not expect given no cars going the opposite way. All I could conclude was they were hoping I would run the red since no one was around.
