Connecting phone to TV (as in television, not tow vehicle)

In light of the conversation about controlling your RV from your phone, maybe now is not the time to ask this :-) But, I'm of the thought that if I want to truly disconnect, I'll tent camp. My wife...

this getting to be very common
cheap Tvs with thin edges around the display, no room for forward facing speakers
small speakers facing the upper back side
sound is directed into the cabinet behind the TV
option is to install a sound bar
