Connecting phone to TV (as in television, not tow vehicle)

This might help. We turn on the “personal hotspot” (iPhone has it in the Settings main menu) on one of our phones. This makes the phone a wifi router so we can connect our iPads to internet service. If we had a smart TV we could connect it, too. Of course the phone gets the internet service via cellular towers so that has to be available.
