"Simple. Purchase your new RV in Montana, park it in a storage lot in Montana, and you will have no problem. Do not drive it out of Montana and you can say with authority, I beat my "home" state out of the taxes they desire. Makes you feel good, doesn't it."
Now, that is just silly! You can drive that RV in any state you wish, EXCEPT, perhaps, the state where you live. NO other state cares whether you paid the taxes in your home state, nor do they care if it is registered to a Limited Liability Company in any state.
In fact, it would be quite simple to have on hand a rental agreement from the LLC to the driver. The same laws that cover rental trucks would probably apply.
Again, KNOW, COMPLY, and DOCUMENT!
No matter how one tries to twist it, it really IS just that simple!
