From previous posts in these and other forums, utilizing the trailer is a definite no-no. As a commercial carrier falling under DOT regulations, I'm not sure sleeping in the back seat of the P/U would be an option for the required rest periods.
That's what I was thinking, too. Who wants to buy a new RV that someone has been using? I'm guessing that you would be sleeping in hotels to meet DOT regulations for rest periods and you would have to comply with the laws for commercial haulers. That would not only include keeping logs and stopping at weigh stations, it would also mean keeping detailed maintenance logs for the tow vehicle.
