They were independent, and didn't have to meet those requirements; their experience only goes towards the actual towing part (time on the road, dealing with bad drivers and customers, etc). The DOT regs are new to me.
My retirement income does not pay all the bills, and this will supplement. I could get a job locally, or go to school, but would rather be on the road for a while.
