As far as dealing with water lines in the winter; it takes me all of 10 minutes to uncap the drain lines, open the faucets, and blow the water out. When I want to use the trailer, I just put the caps back on, fill the water tank, and head out.
It's seriously not a big deal.
What are these air compressors called and what brand should I get? Where do they go in the plumbing system? Do they have a rate of failure? I'm just nervous they won't get all the water out
For a very small plumbing system, you can get by with a 12V tire inflator. The cheapest ones come with wire and alligator clips. I'd suggest to direct wire it, install a switch, and locate it close to the pump.
You really need to do some research on this before you start. A few drops of water are not going to cause your pipes to burst.
