Cooper HT tires

Last month I had to make an emergency trip from Fl. to Nc. I had to replace the tires on my truck . It was a 3 day trip......I could not keep my truck tracking straight. Plus every day I had to put 3 + lbs of air in the rear tires. I finally had to stop and replace the rear tires with Michlins. I had them for 3 days and less than 700 miles. After I replaced the Coopers I lost no more air and I no longer had to wrestle the steering wheel to keep the truck in my lane. When I got back home I returned the two bad tires to the dealer and they sent them back to the distributor. After a couple of weeks they determined that they were out of round and would refund my money. I paid $388.00 for the two tires and yesterday the dealer called me and said my refund was ready to be picked up. When I opened the sealed envelope and saw the receipt I saw that they were only refunding me $288.00 so it cost me $100.00 to buy those tires. My advice is do not buy Cooper Tires. I had contacted Cooper prior to replacing the tires and they told me to return the tires. So much for standing behind their product.

  • Tire warranties are almost always for replacement with same brand and model. Any cash refund has to be considered above and beyond.

Still, I know where Cooper quality tends to run, having bought four sets as replacement for OEM, where they used to be parallel or a step up. They are not, however, a replacement for premium grade tires from Michelin, Bridgestone, or Goodyear/Dunlop or Pirelli. At least one set was not as round as it should have been, and another started separating treads at about 6 years, 80,000 miles. But the OEM Goodyears the Coopers replaced were worn out at 30,000, so it is all relative.
  • We're the Cooper tires only 3 days old? I am not sure from your post. If the rear tires were only 3 days old were they the only ones you replaced originally or had you replaced all four tires? If they were that bad out of round how did they ever balance the tires? There is a lot that I am not understanding about your tires. I would think that when Cooper said return the tires they meant for you to get 2other Cooper tires put on, this is what they should have done for free.

  • But...but, they're made in America, how can they be defective, or have poor customer service..:s....:B
