Generally I've found the more I pay, the more we enjoy our stay. Not trying to be smug, but it fits what we're looking for. Usually in the RV resorts we've stayed at it means you get peace and quiet, not jammed spaces, room at the pool, not a lot of screaming kids. One RV resort we frequent is over $90 a night. We stay a month every summer. But it's in the area we love and fits our expectations. I don't mind the cost.
Everyone has their needs. My downtime means chillin without worries. I rather spend the money and be happy vs be more frugal and complain about not relaxing.
About hotels. Again, I believe you get what you pay for. What grinds me about them is all the added fees and taxes that you don't see when first looking. By the time you're done a $200 night room ends up to be $300. We're going to Oahu in November. The room we want is listed 300 a night, but then taxes & fees are added after your hooked bringing it to $400. And that doesn't even include daily parking fees or transfers to the airport.
Gotta pay if you want to play ... Your way.
