FREE here in most areas in West Michigan as you can store RV's/boats right on your own property with a few areas requiring the RV or boat/trailer/RV be behind the front facia of the home. However, that's not much of a problem around here as the minimum lot width code is 100' with a 15' min between the home structure and the lot line. Plenty of your own property to park your RV etc on or getting it even behind your home if desired.
Unless you're dumb enough to live/build/your home in an HOA controlled area that restricts any RV etc parking and so many other things on the property YOU own and PAY taxes on. Fortunately, there are not many of them around here and most have already modified their rules due to intense pressure from local area the owners etc. The entire local area of 72,000 population is very upbeat and classy with zero slums or any rundown sections. Most side streets in town or in the township allow RV/Boat parking at the curb or in driveways where getting along side the home on the 50+ year old homes where is not possible to park along side but not on any of the main arteries. Makes so much sense!
All land/lots for over 50 years have have had the wide lot requirements and there's very little complaining about RV's and boats etc being on your OWN property or even alongside the home but they must not block a drivers view of intersections/cross traffic etc and must not be an eyesore as to the items condition/appearance and that applies to the home or any other structures on the property too. Simply said, NO postage stamp sized lots can be built on here and therefore that contributes strongly to the lack of downbeat undesireable neighborhoods developing. The community etc must pull together to force pride and working togeher to keep the eyesores out. It's alive and well around here and has been for my 72+ years of livng here and it shows as so many of the approx 7 million visitors each year also notice it also and will comment on it! Many even send their comments to the local newspaper and the local governmental venues. That also intensifies the local's pride and diligence to do even better as it has a mushrooming or snowballing effect in the local residents and has a positive effect on the constant population growth.
