If that's true at Costco, it's something new. Been awhile since I tried it, but my main Visa, not a debit card, was rejected for that reason last time I tried to use it. Didn't have the debit card on me so had to leave the building and go get cash to pay for the goods!

I made an inaccurate general statement, you cannot use any solo credit card. If it is a debit/credit card, you can use it as a debit card with a pin. The only solo credit card you can use is American Express. Sorry for the confusion.
If your card is tied to a money market account and can be used as a debit card with a pin I am surprised it did't work. The whole idea for them is to reduce the fees they pay and that is why they only will do a debit.
