Costco Insurance

I just got a letter in the mail from Costco trying to get me to switch insurance companies for auto and home. You know, call for a free quote type of card. Well I called them this morning. They ran my name and said I see you have x amount of cars and a fifth wheel. I thought they were going to try to sell me trailer insurance. But no!!!!, they said I see you have an F250, we won't insure that truck because you use it to pull your trailer. I told them I tow it about 800 miles a year. They said if it was a conventional travel trailer they would insure it but since it was a fiver, they want t limit their exposure. I told them the fivers were one of the most popular, if not the most, form of RV and they said they knew that but they will not insure my truck. I said you won't insure anything I own and hung up.
My membership is just about up anyway so I guess I will not renew. I actually prefer Sam's Club over Costco...yeah I must be weird.

X2, and those are very "liberal" concepts nowadays.

Sounds like an opinion not a frenzy!

You guys need to take a pill.

It is alright for him to have his own opinion. Isn`t it?
  • I have been happy with Costco so far, although insurance, they tend to "OEM" other companies. I'd rather just stick with Geico and USAA for that, as Geico definitely covers my RV, and tow vehicle.

You do understand that Costco isn't actually the insurance company? They don't set the underwriting guidelines. How in the heck are they supposed to know what you drive, what kind of RV you have or anything else about you other than what you buy at their stores? They affiliate with many things that they might not be able to sell to a specific individual. They are always advertising their affiliation with a few banks to offer home loans etc. That doesn't mean you won't be turned down for having bad credit or because the home is in a flood zone if you apply simply because you have a $50.00 Costco membership. You are really getting whipped into a frenzy about nothing.

    Exactly...X2.

  • Many insurance companies limit their liability. Several years ago after I sold my Rv I camped with my horse trailer. GS used to call me about once a month trying to sell their GS ERS. OK how much for my horse trailer? That ended it. A company in CA only sells insuance to people with 4 door sedans.

Seems like I also buy less and less at Costco.
  • "yeah I must be weird."

No your not weird, Costco is a very liberal company and I am not. I have been a member in the past and will not ever be one again.
