Told by a guy, that heard from a guy? Uh-huh.
I don't believe that's what the OP said.
Uh-huh.
"I was told by the guy that told me that a COSTCO employee told him that...." - GeocritterExplorerI haven't really followed this thread but my thought is this, since you're paying an annual membership fee you should be eligible for all member benefits. If Costco doesn't have the facilities to fuel your RV they should reimburse you the difference when you fill up somewhere near by. Now if they want to wave the membership fee...

While fueling my home at Sam's Club yesterday I was told by someone............
My neighbor told me the same thing.
Said he heard it from his former brother-in-law's third cousin's wife's knitting group just last week..:R

~ - seaeagle2ExplorerYears ago my buddy and I went on a trip with our daughters and his girl friend. We each had an extended cab pu with a camper and I was towing a 16' boat, so I was blocking a whole island. I filled front and rear tanks on the truck and the 6 gallon tank in the boat. I thought I'd be nice and free up 3 pumps so I pulled my truck away from the island. As I did so, the cashier inside the store started yelling that guy's taking off. My daughter and my buddy's girlfriend both started saying, "no, this is his daughter, he's not leaving"... in a panic, the cashier hit some button that cleared the pumps I'd used. When I went inside to pay she couldn't tell how much I'd pumped. The manager was quite disappointed that I was actually there to pay, apparently it would have been easier for him to call 911 and report it as a gas theft, and it was quite a job for them to recreate how much I owed. Now adays, I don't worry about blocking pumps.

I don't believe I would ever use the words Costco and short-sighted in the same sentence.
I think Real Estate is expensive and they don't want to buy more of it then is absolutely required.
Good points both.
I suspect that the "real estate" people designing the parking lot are NOT the same people who are responsible for the main business plan inside the store. - mgirardoExplorerI've never even seen a Costco with a gas station, so it doesn't bother me. Granted, I've only ever seen 1 Costco.

They have constructed their fueling facilities such, on purpose, to keep RVers out.
Oh please. You have NO WAY of knowing that.
I think it's much more likely that they are just short sighted (stupid).
Yep pretty stupid:?
As of 2014, Costco was the third largest retailer in the United States.[5] By 2015 it was the second largest in the world (after Walmart).[6] - GoPackGoExplorerI don't believe I would ever use the words Costco and short-sighted in the same sentence.
I think Real Estate is expensive and they don't want to buy more of it then is absolutely required. As someone has already stated, the margin on fuel sales is apparently pretty low so in order to make money, you gotta move a lot of it, especially if you're trying to be about the cheapest place in town. They plan it out with a big area for cars to line up going in a one-way direction towards the pumps and a then a fairly tight turn using a minimum of space for exiting. Seems like this is a pretty efficient layout.
