Counter Space!! Where is it?? 15 1/4"??

Is it just me? Or are there others that have next to sweet nothing for counter real estate?

My TT is 27 feet long. You'd think they could give me a little more than just room to butter a slice of bread!

I have next to .... struggling for a polite term here....
Next to nothing for counter space.

From my stove to my sink is 15 1/4 inches. Thats it!

I mean sure I can use the fold down thing on my stove top, but not when I'm cooking. Or my table top, but I don't want to use that for food preparation either. My laptop sits there and the current paperwork, leaving room for a dinner plate and a cold one!

And I don't have one of those counter top things that fits in the sink hole either

Yup! 15 1/4" of countertop space, thats it!

Is it just me? Or do you guys have 4/5ths of nothing there too?

Oh, and there is a 2 inch strip to the left of my stove. What do I do with that besides wipe it when I wash dishes?

  • Yup, I built a lot of counter space in when I redid mine.

Across from the sink I have this:

  • We shopped for our present coach for about three years. We desired a front kitchen plan with significant counter space as we cook most of our meals. More than once when I questioned the lack of counter space in a particular unit the sales person somewhat tried to inform us "people who buy these don't cook - they eat most of their meals out". :R So why prey tell would someone spend money on something then have no intention of using?

Granted, we do eat a lot of our meals out; on the picnic table next to the motorhome. :) We do use our kitchen for all meal preparations and that means we want a considerable of counter real estate.
  • Gee that's not fair I only have 6 inches from the stove to sink.

I did however wall mount a flat panel tv in the bedroom and took the fold down tv shelf in the bedroom down and mounted it to the end of the counter. The formica top was the same as the kitchen counter. I built a shelf near the ceiling above the flat panel for the DVD player.
  • Hi,

Try a couple of fold down shelves?

I really don't know what to say, the motorhome that I bought had plenty of counter space, and the largest bathroom possible. I even ordered it without a dinette, something that I found very uncomfortable in my last motorhome and the camper.

Instead of a dinette, I have two captains chairs with a 29" X 40" table between them that folds down into the wall mounted storage compartment.

    Fred.
  • I am with you! I need the stove cover down AND the sink covers in to prep a meal. I have a few slivers of space behind the sink, behind and to the left of the stove. I usually store my water dispenser there. There is about 12" of space between the sink and the stove.

I plan to prep more meals at home this year. Pre-measured ingredients in zip-lock bags is the plan.
