If the water pressure is too low, its like already suggested, fill the tank and turn the pump on. But using the regulator won't hurt a thing as the pressure is already lower than the regulator it won't matter. As far as an expensive regulator, those are fine for the full timers but way overkill for the weekenders. 
We've run into those situations with wood. Most places we go its easy to get wood outside of where we are staying, but sometimes you just have to suck it up and pay the piper.
We've only stayed at a handful of CGs that had decent laundry facilities. When they aren't good you have to find a Laundromat nearby and plan to eat up some time doing laundry. As said above, part of the adventure! ;)
