CR-V Towing Question

The last 2 MH magazines have had articles about towing a CR-V. This month it reflects that if you are towing a 2007-2011 CR-V you should pull fuse #34. My question is if you pull that fuse will your supplemental brake system still function properly? Thanks.

  • Much discussion about pulling the fuse or not, adding a switch, or a charge line. But to answer the original question, NO, pulling the fuse will have no effect on the operation of a supplemental brake system.

I agree a thousand percent! Yes, they (Honda) wanted us to pull that fuse #34 too in our '11 CRV. Well, first off, that fuse, by far is the hardest one to get to. And, you have to hang upside down, and twist your arm to get it out, and later back in. Well, that ain't happening with this old body so, I setup a charge line.

Some folks are petrified that if you don't pull that fuse, their first born will be eliminated. Well, a charge line is all that's needed. Most coaches have the 12V hot already in their trailer plug. So, all that's needed is to continue that 12V to the positive post of the CRV and a fuse. DONE! We towed that CRV for thousands if miles and never, ever came close to a dead battery.

  • Agree with Dave. You have to wire the toad for the lights to function, it is a simple matter to connect a charge line also.
  • Dick, we had an '07 Honda CR-V and had a switch installed on the dash in a vacant plate (to the left of the radio/nav). It only turns off the radio/nav.

    MM.
