- wa8yxmExplorer IIIThe article linked to by clickey above had a bit more info than the last one I read. Clearly the brakes were out likely another issue as well... The driver did try to warn people out of his way (Successfully it appears) so rather than a crazy he's closer to a hero (less the failure was due to lack of maintenance) as he might have bailed at the top of the hill and let everyone fare for themselces. but he "Went down with the ship" to save others.

No problem. As noted, your article contained a lot more information.

First I’m seeing of it. Sometimes posting it a few times is helpful!
Sad to hear! I’m assuming it must have been brake failure? - phemensExplorerMy brother in law is an uncle of the victim in question. I didn't know him personally, but he was the type to take good care of his equipment (he had just put in a significant amount ($20k) in repairs and maintenance, including the brakes). Very sad situation, will be very curious to see what the final outcome is and whether they will make any changes to the ferry. There are comments from other travellers on it being a potentially dangerous approach - steep slope, etc).
- packnratExplorerbefore you condemn the driver/owner of the rv for bad brakes. just remember metal does fail, and many a hard brake line has failed, crazy but more than the rubber lines fail. rust, vibrations, damage (seen or un-seen). who here has checked every inch of there brake lines in the past 30 days?
3 months?
six months...
in the past year?
. - Jebby14Explorerwho's condemning the driver?

Holy F#####g S##t. If this had been a movie set he landed it perfectly. Of course it isn't and it is awful that this was the outcome.
