I'm more of a 62 MPH'er. but I'm also a 400 miles per day'er. it makes for some long days sometimes. but the margin of safety keeps my mind at ease. I also know that if something happens ahead of me I have more time to react. Case in point, sometime on our trip to CA from CO, I was cruising along at 62, when some schmuck with a single axle cargo trailer goes zooming by, my guess is in the 75-80 MPH range. I think it was a 70MPH zone. He basically passed me like I was standing still. As he passed and got in lane ahead of me I watched his right rear trailer tire shred to pieces. I was going slow enough that none of the rubber impacted our Jeep or Trailer. He was oblivious that he lost a tire. We were coming up to traffic, and it took almost 2 miles, with me signaling and flashing my brights before he finally pulled to the side of the road. I suppose he was in a hurry.
