You can actually drive around the US and write checks?
I don't find that as amazing as the fact that someone will actually take them.
I don't own a credit card. Full timed 7 years without one. AND I cash checks almost every week while on the road.
I have free checking. I don't ever use an ATM. Basically I am NOT going to pay 'anyone' to use my own money or use a credit card and pay them ridiculous rates to spend money I don't have.
Checks? Do you all live under a rock and don't know about e-checks? :W
Almost all establishments e-check your checks.
All Walmarts and many grocery stores will GLADLY take your check. You can even write it for 'over the amount' and get 'cash back'......they run your check as an "e-check" they get their money on the spot and likewise it is taken out of your account on the spot!
They don't care what state or planet you are from when they run it e-check all the info is right there for them to use.
I haven't ween the inside of my bank for 7 years. Transfer money, deposit checks, auto bill pay, etc., on line while on the road anywhere! And Walmart supplies me with any green cash I might need! :C
Nothing wrong with cash and it is easier to budget. But regarding fees to use a debit card or credit card to "use" your own cash just is not true. I do not pay any fees on my debit cards or credit cards to use or get cash.
