Crossing border from Canada to USA

This has most likely been discussed many times but a search here didn't give me an answer & all the govt. websites I've read tend to confuse me . I'm wondering what food I'm allowed to take in our RV from Canada to the US. The websites use the word"may" a lot, as in, " may or may not be allowed". I'd like to take things like frozen spaghetti sauce & frozen chili, a variety of different cheeses, juices. Does anyone here know if these things are allowed or does it take the goodwill of the border guard to allow them? Thanks for any advice or clarification.
  • When we do not plan to take anything that is a meat, meat bi product, eggs. When we go across we have some canned goods, nothing fresh in the fridge or freezer and no fresh vegetables and fruit. We just stop at a grocery store when there and buy what we need, coming back we do the same thing.
