We travel into the US usually once or twice a year. If you keep your trailer locked while travelling, have the key ready to give to the guard. They will probably want to check.
Rather than trying to keep up with all of the latest restrictions on food, we generally just take a bare minimum with us and stop at the supermarket on the US side. It can be awfully hard to remember everything you have in the fridge. Generally anything that's been processed and in a sealed container is going to be okay. If not, they'll take it.
