- demoonExplorerWe live just outside of Worcester and after the last storm the lamp post in our front yard , which is about 6' tall, had only around a foot showing. Today, there is only around 2' of snow left around it. A lot depends on depends on how much the sun hits an area when it does get above freezing.
Much of VT did get less snow than usual, but it has been very cold, so the ski areas have been making snow like crazy, so when you see the their snow depths, take that into consideration.
With that being said, they are predicting snow here, for Friday night. - CroweExplorerMy daughter picked this past year (July to July) to do a 1 year fellowship in Worchester, MA (just outside Boston). She is from TN, so is not used to snow. CHUCKLE!
My son goes to college in Worcester (about an hour west of Boston) and he has told us that MANY of the kids who are not used to snow have been freaking out. He's a died-in-the-wool Yank and it's even been a bit much for him. He's wondering whatever possessed him to finish his Master's there and not somewhere warm!
p.s. It's pronounced "Wister" or "Wistah" depending on how strong your Boston accent is! - BobboExplorer IIMy daughter picked this past year (July to July) to do a 1 year fellowship in Worchester, MA (just outside Boston). She is from TN, so is not used to snow. CHUCKLE!
- GaryWTExplorerI was going to say, my son is in Vermont and they did not get much snw this year. When he was home a couple weeks ago he was amased at how much snow we had, it was so deep he could not run his snowmobile in it.
- CroweExplorerover 250 inches we have received in our corner of the world
Where in VT?
Why "snowbirds" - give snow "the bird"
LOL! - DtankExplorer.
And there ya have it.....
Why "snowbirds" - give snow "the bird"...:W
. - joanne0012ExplorerOut from under?? LOL last night's big news was that the 2 inches we got on Saturday night put Boston over the previous record for most snow in one season.
I've been watching my neighbor's lawn chairs emerge from the snow, but now the seats have disappeared again. But after all we've been through, 2 inches was nothing, it just freshened up all the gross dirty snowbanks along the roads. The piles that had been 7 feet tall are now down to 3 or 4 feet. The ground was frozen really solid before the snow started in January so it's slowing down the melting process. - VT_SkierExplorerTry living in VT I love to ski and in fact ski almost everyday conditions have been spectacular BUT the over 250 inches we have received in our corner of the world is not melting temps are getting to about 36 degrees but not warm enough to really help in melting, worst part is before we bring our new TT home I have to have some excavation work done to make room and with the ground frozen beyond 4ft that wont happen anytime soon.....DW is not thrilled about me parking camper in front yard where I finally got grass to grow this past summer after building the house just over a yr ago...
- GaryWTExplorerYep, was hoping to camp May 1 this year. Not looking too good.
- CroweExplorerA few weeks ago Lowell MA had the most snow recorded in the state.
At that point I believe they had 110 inches. There were a number of storms after that. I live near Lowell. Despite much net searching, I can't seem to find official totals for Lowell or Billerica at this point.
With luck she may be able to see her lawn by the end of May.
At least it will cut down on the mowing! :B We figure the snowbank at the end of the cul-de-sac will still be here on the 4th of July. The winter of 95/96 was our first year in this house, and somewhere we have a picture taken on 7/3/96 of a patch of snow that was about a square foot. It melted that day.
