We have had the basic version and now have the remote start version. For the money they can't be beat. Supergen makes a sound tent that will lower the noise level to the same as a Honda handi or Champion 3100i running under load.
The only dry campground we were in ours was the quietest there as the solar did it's job. we could have started it and you wouldn't have known with three motor homes running their on boards morning, noon and evening and the Honda 3000is running 24/7.
We rarely take ours now that we have solar. When we did it was off boondocking by ourselves. There are quieter generators but this is certainly not the loudest. I had a Powermate 2500 that was too loud even for boondocking and other open frames are easily 6 db louder.
Honda confirmed that they measure the DB's of their generators at the same distance as everyone else. Even their quietest is annoying if you are not considerate.
