damaged RV

If there was a loan on the RV I would think that there would be a phone call to the insurance agent with the VIN number from the dealer. that's the way it always works for me. actually IIRC even without a loan on it.

I'm guessing that the OP did not realize they needed insurance the minute the paperwork was done. I am also guessing due to not realizing the necessity, no insurance was on the RV.

Sorry, toknow, this will be out of your pocket and you can sue the driver that did the damage.

My suggestion is to dig deep, find the money, do the repairs, and go camping. Why own an RV and not use it because you are squabbling over responsibility?

Good luck on the process, but I haven't noticed anywhere that you, the OP, has stated that you had the damaged RV insured, at the time. This could be an important issue for you. If it was insured, then let your insurance company work with you, on the process of getting your RV fixed. If it wasn't insured, then you probably have a long road ahead of you.

If it happened 2 days before you took possession, I would have refused it. If you have taken it then fight it with insurance.

Was there a bailment???
Was the possession a mutual benefit???
To who’s benefit was the possession???
Was there gross negligence involved???
Was reasonable care taken???
Is the bailment contested???

Like already said, call your insurance ASAP. That doesn't mean that they will be footing the bill but it does mean that they will get to the bottom of it and see who is responsible for the damage.

You may be asking the wrong people 6 months late, what you should have done or hope you did was have your insurance company inspect damage while at dealer and get the story from them and at least refuse to sign any papers, but maybe that's 6 months to late by now, never listen to any dealer how the accident happen and remove your car or RV from the lot till insurance company says so, not sure what anyone here can do for you..
