We actually do that, fold the handle over across the screen door when the main door is open. We do that to keep our cat inside. He is a Maine Coon and can easily reach the screen door lever and open it.....he's a smart little bugger. He did it one time when we were sitting outside close by. Good thing he is not a runner, just wanted to be with his people and came right to us. Surprised us to no end so now we fold that handle over the screen door. That keeps him inside.
Best cats ever!
We're not "cat people" but last time we needed a new mouser, we ended up getting, presumably, a purebred maine coon from the shelter (as a kitten).
He's basically a 4th dog around the house. Super friendly, no litter box required for even when he is in the house, he goes outside just like the dogs. He's equally as comfortable sleeping on a kid's bed all night or locked outside, hunting. Based on the number of rodents he leaves for us, I'd say he averages about 300 kills a year.
Spends the vast majority of his time outside (we're in the woods effectively).
Also a far better topic than discussions from people who thing they'll be trapped in their camper by a plastic latch!
