Unfortunately we all tend to over estimate our abilities as we grow older. I'm in my 7th decade and I try to stay off ladders, but I still occasionally find it necessary - when I do climb I am VERY careful.
We are volunteer millers at a 140 year old windmill and the rule when climbing anything is "One hand for you, one hand for the mill!"
