day night blinds

What do you do to make the day night blinds easier to put up or down?
Also what do you use to make sliding windows easier to open or close?

  • I have had to fix one cord on one window in 9 years, i'm waiting for more to break, then i'm swapping them out for mini blinds.
  • As stated, you can adjust the cord tension.

Keeping the window tracks clean can help a lot. We wiped ours with a wet cloth about once a month if windows are left open.

If the cord is too tight, the blinds will be hard to move up and down.

You will find two cord retainers at the bottom of the blinds, one on each side. To loosen the cord, unwrap the cord from around the retainers. Don't rush it, if the cord is too loose, the blinds will slide down on their own.

Thank you, I will try that
  • What Tom said..

For the Windows, use a Teflon DRY lube. Home Depot has a whole shelf of various lubes and sprays usually around the tool dept.

  • We have no difficulty with the blinds, and my DW is not very strong.

The windows are another matter. So far I've muscled them, but a lube might help. Maybe others will post solutions for you.
