DC fans reversed

I just realized today that the 12vDC fan for the stove hood and the bathroom vent are running backwards. These are the small cheap DC motors. However, the blower for the heater is running correctly.

I guess I can reverse the wiring but I'd sure like to know how this happened.

Thanks,
Dave
  • Maybe they put in a fan designed to be used in Australia. I understand that everything turns the opposite direction south of the equator.

I think you're wrong. The quality inspector would have caught something that obvious during the detailed final inspection of the RV.
    They don't miss a thing. :B
  • Maybe the fan blades are installed upside down. :)

EDIT: 2oldman. You beat me by 30 seconds.

ScottG - That was going to be my answer as well but surely he would have noticed some blown fuses if that was the case...

My reversed battery terminals blows one real close to the battery terminal and then two more labeled REVERSE POLARITY in the 12VDC Distribution Panel.

However my tongue jack is directly connected to the battery so I guess it might be turning backwards haha... Actually same goes for the slide in my fifth wheel. It too is connected directly to the battery terminals.

hmmm the kitchen items where the exhaust fan is located might be on the slide too ????

Would be easy to check to be sure - Find the word marked "NEG" or the symbol "-" on the battery case and hand trace this terminal cable to make sure it is the one that goes to frame ground...

  • What...are you saying that you don't want all the cooking smoke from your range blown back into your rig instead of exhausted out.....:S
