They also say you are guilty til you prove yourself innocent. Couple of years ago I got a letter from Washington DC Police stating that I was had for a red light violation and had 30 day to pay a $50 fine or is goes up to $100. The enclosed picture showed a Chevy passenger car and had the plate number that I had on my vehicle. It was the same color combination as Ohio but they also knew from running the plate to get my name and address, my plate was on a Dodge pickup. Close inspection of the photo revealed the plate had a Handicap symbol on the left side. My daughter figured it out and the plate was an Iowa plate. My plate is a Fraternal Order of Police symbol license plate from Ohio. I had to send them photos of my plate and vehicle or I was still liable for the fine. I asked them when they were going to give me notice that they were the ones that screwed up and was told they have no time limit. I still have a copy of the letter in my doc file. Also I have not been to DC since 1972. Don't be afraid to call and complain. They do feel you are guilty even if they screwed up.
