Traveling up the I-5 Freeway in Southern California a couple of years ago, a semi-truck ran over a truck mud-flap, the kind with metal corners. Well, when the semi ran over it, it started rolling like a square donut.
I tried to avoid it but couldn't change lanes. So, it hit the right front corner of my bumper putting a big black mark on it and then I ran over it with my driver's side front tire causing it to slap the side of the first bay door. The metal ends of the mud-flap made two three inch scratches along the crease in the bay door. Thank goodness it was on the solid black and solid cream..... no 'fading' colors to touch up. I had my repair shop mix up those two colors and I was good to go. The black marks on the front bumper came off with Simple Green.
I have seen so much stuff on the road over the years that I will never follow anyone carrying anything. Once, a car hood from a Volkswagen Rabbit was in one lane on a busy freeway. I'm sure glad I wasn't in that lane. A few miles up was the Rabbit with no hood park along the side.
Safe travels,
MM.
