Dental care prices, USA vs Mexico?
So I went to the dentist yesterday, and they want me back next week. Total cost for xrays, exam, cleaning, and 3 fillings will be $850. 2 of the fillings are $95 and the 3rd is $284 or something....

I had had dental work done in Algodones, Mexico many many years ago, and have never had a problem with the work that was done. More recently, both DW and I needed dental work, we considered going to Algodones, but we settled instead on this dental discount plan, HERE. It's the Careington 500 Plan.
This is not insurance, what it is, is best described by our dentist, who said, "they tell me what I can charge". He has complained mildly to me about the low prices they allow him to charge, but he doesn't turn away the work. You can click around and find a fee schedule on the site, specific to your zip code. A recent example for us, a porcelain crown was $534, which is $300 off normal charge here. Yes, I could have got it a bit cheaper in Mexico, but figuring in the travel, plus if I would have to go back for any tweaking or adjustments, then the savings would be cancelled out for me.
The website lists participating dentists. However, not all dentists who will take the plan are listed. My preferred dentist wasn't listed, so I asked them, and and they said, sure, we'll take it. I have no association with the company, other than that I am a customer.
