Dental Insurance ?

When I retired, my employer only provided group Dental insurance under Cobra. It is now not available to my wife and I. Anyone out there purchased any decent Dental insurance ? My experience has been that the plans may not be worth it as they are limited in their pay out and annual maximum. But.....perhaps someone has discovered a decent plan ? Thanks.
  • As to whether it's worthwhile, what shape are your teeth in? We looked at dental coverage after I retired and it just wasn't worth it. I could pay for yearly teeth cleaning and a crown per year for less than the insurance was going cost. If you go down south to the border, it will cost a whole lot less. If your teeth are in really poor shape, it might be worthwhile, but they're going to have a cap on yearly expenses.

  • I have had a plan since I retired from the Air force in 1992 for my wife. We adopted a son and added him in 2002. Comp Benefits is the company and I pay 18 a month for it.
