Dewinterizing - first trip without sewer

We are heading out for our first trip Easter weekend, but our site will not have sewer (we will have W/E). So, I'm trying to figure out how to deal with dewinterizing.

My initial thought is that I will purge all of the lines and rinse them out prior to leaving, then dump the tanks as I head into the park for the weekend. The only problem is that this will not let me sanitize the FW tank and the lines, which will have to wait for the second trip.

I also considered sanitizing the lines, but I would not be able to empty the FW tank, which means I'd have bleach water sitting in that tank for a month before the next trip.

What are your thoughts? What have others done when dewinterizing without sewer for the first trip?

  • I don't understand why you can't just dewinterize and sanitize at home before you leave. What do you need to dump the tanks on the way in? Why not put bleach in your FW tank, pump in to lines, let sit, drain and be done with it all before you leave home?
  • I dewinterized and sanitized in my driveway this weekend. Isn't that a possibility? What about a friend or family members home?
  • Carry on with your plan and just use bottled water for drinking/cooking and sanitize another time.
