dewinterizing fresh water systems

camping season is fast approaching especially for those of us on the east coast. at what point does everyone consider it safe (temps) to flush out the antifreeze? obviously, when the temps stay above 32* but say its in the 50's in the day and maybe 28-30* at nite. am i still safe?

  • The main reason I can see to un-winterize as soon as practice is in case of a leak/broke line you have time to fix it and not miss a reservation. If you wait till just before you leave you might get a wet surprise one day.

Just out of curiosity...is there any reason you must flush out the antifreeze now? Are you camping anytime soon?

I only ask because we never camp any earlier than May, and usually mid-May at the earliest. The TT comes out of storage the first week of April...and I just leave the RV antifreeze in it until early May.
  • I'll waiting till temps are higher than 32 at night at least 5 nights in a row. Same for winterizing. When it's 32 degrees or less 5 nights in a row, I winterize.
