I don't have a GPS unit in any of my vehicles. Whenever I search out directions on the internet (Usually using Map Quest) it sends me down on the wrong roads,, locally. Once I get further from home I have to follow their directions but, I wonder how much quicker and easier I could get to somewhere if I didn't follow the computers directions.
But,, paper maps are getting hard to come by. The last time I went to Minneapolis / St. Paul I bought a new paper map. I order it from the internet and it was a Rand McNally (sp) map. I thought that would be a good done. After getting to our destination in down town Minneapolis I looked on the map for a easier way out of town and discovered that the street we were on was NOT EVEN ON THE MAP. Nither were a lot of the other ones we came across.
Since Map Quest always takes me the long way. And, since you can't get a decent paper map anymore. I feel that I really can't go that far anymore .
