You had better be driving it a ton of miles before you'll ever equal out here at roughly a $0.50 additional cost per gallon.
National average is currently $.29 higher for diesel. I too, live in PA, but buy ALL my fuel in neighboring states.
I guess that works if you happen to live close to the state line or travel to the other state on a regular basis for other reasons. The problem as I see it is if your say 60 miles or more from the state line is the 120 mile, 2 hour round trip worth it to save what, $20 at most, while also burning some of the cheaper fuel returning?
My free time is worth a lot more than that.
That strategy reminds me of a guy I used to work with who would drive to Myrtle beach with his extended family and rent a beachfront condo for 2 weeks. He did this for 15 straight years. Then one year in the early 00's gas went from $2.80 to almost $4.00 a gallon and he cancelled his annual trip, eating a good chunk of the deposit on the rental, all last minute. No way was he going to pay for all that expensive gas lol. He canceled his family's vacation over about $30 and thats not counting his loss on the condo deposit.
