This one got me wondering what gas really did cost in 1971 (sorry, I couldn't find similar data for diesel....though no doubt someone will):
Inflation adjusted price of gasolineAnyway, the national average was $0.36 per gallon. If that was adjusted for inflation (1971 to April 2022) it would be $2.57 today.....interestingly, about what it was before it started it's rapid rise.
I also found it interesting that the long term inflation adjusted average since 1918 was $3.20/gallon
I have noticed that, in the past couple weeks, it seems that the spread between the price of Diesel and Gas is decreeing here (Bend, Oregon). I wonder if anyone else is seeing similar?
