For the first two years I drove, I always had a small trailer behind me. I learned how to back up. Some picket fences did suffer, though.
A backup camera is essential not only for backing up, but for all visibility concerns at your 6 o'clock, and at any time. Mirrors are completely inadequate.
Nobody ever said you can't back up with a trailer. As a matter of fact, a lot of people use that as the reason they tow a car on a trailer as opposed to 4 down or a dolly.
What is said is you can not back up a car towed on a dolly or 4 down, which is what this thread is about.
To the OP:
Get a backup camera, you won't be sorry.
Don't worry too much about where you can go. Just pay attention as you drive. Before you pull in somewhere, be sure you can see the way out. If you can't see how you are going to get out, don't pull in. We don't do any pre-planning about that type of thing. We just look before we drive.
You don't have to have a pull through site in campgrounds, but if you don't you will have to unhook the car and hook it up again in the morning as you leave. That is not a real burden, especially if you tow 4 down.
