Digital temperature gun FYI

On sale in Canadian Tire this week for S30 down from $100. Cheap way of checking for potential wheel bearing or brakes problems. We use one regularly when travelling just as a safety measure. Read reviews for 1001 other uses.
  • Another Two Thumbs Up for Canadian Tire! We only ever buy there when the item is On Sale!
Compared to Harbor Freight they are Much more Up Town and compete with the likes of Walmart in many departments.
Prices in Stores here in Canada are priced slightly higher in Canadian Dollars than the same merchandise south of the border, but because of the current exchange rate Americans will save a bundle by shopping here right now!
Just fill up on Gas in the U.S. ...Its Cheaper and You will experience Long Waits at the Border!
  • The title should have included 'for Canadians'. Harbour Freight is good, same with Amazon.com, but may not be available north of the border. Amazon.com here redirects me to Amazon.ca, different products, different prices.
If a U.S. based company (including Camping World.ca) does ship to Canada, extra fees could range from 0% - 200% depending on company and shipping method. (does not included current $ exchange rates.

In the end, $30 is a very good price for us.

  • I now carry one in every vehicle. I did preorder the Android Flir one. That's not so cheap.
  • The cheap IR guns are great for letting you know if something is warmer or colder than it was last time you checked. Just don't count on the reported temperature to be accurate. Reported temperature is a function of surface emmissivity (for all IR measuring devices) and the cheap guns don't let you adjust for this.

That said, I have a couple of the cheap ones from HF that I use frequently.

Check EBay...$10. Point it straight up on a clear day.
  • Never leave home without my IR gun!!

It was extra fun at Yellowstone to take the temp of the mud bogs and stuff! The looks people gave us was priceless
