Dimming LED Awning Lights?

Our new fiver has the LED awning lights and wow are they bright. What do I need to dim these? Are they 12 volt or 120? Thanks for the help and I'm sure my future camping neighbors will also appreciate it.

  • They are 12V and you can purchase a dimming module and install it or simple add a resistor is you want them permanently dimmed. Many of us have do this mod. A controller with remote can be purchased from Amazon or eBay for under $10.
  • When I get my next trailer, even if it has the factory LEDs, I will be installing my own strip with controller under them. I like the fact that I can dim, change colors, or have a dance party (Hey, I am 40 going on 16!)
  • Unplug and try them, assuming you don't have an inverter. If they light up, they are 12v.

Some LED lights are dimmable, some are not. You'll have to try it. They may flicker a lot when dimmed.
