Dingy is complete and ready for service
I bought a 2012 GMC Canyon 4x4 as my new dingy for the upcoming season. We will do a short trip to Goliad tx to verify all things are fully functional.
Modifications include a new blue ox base plate, a factory overhaul of my previously used tow bar, and an independent tail lighting system tagged onto the rear bumper when traveling and easily disconnected when not in use. The ignition system operates with the key off/removed when towing and the transfer case need only be put into neutral. I think I have the keep it simple approach.
Note there is no mention of braking system. I handled that by selecting a small truck and using all of the safety cables. An inherent safe approach. A braking system I feel adds complexity and potential for unintended operation. While the necessity for a braking system increases with toad weight. I like keep it simple. In the last 4 years of following rv net, my non accounting remembrance has picked up more instances of toad system braking failure, than MOHO brake failure or brake away.
To each their own solution
