On the BMW a 5 speed manual is towable a 6 speed is not! Don't know what they changed but the newer gearbox is not approved.
We tow a 323i convertible 1999 on a dolly face forward. Purposely got a 99 because of the gear box issue.
For mine the front is way to low to load on backwards.
