Even though it may not be "approved", might it still be towable?
For example, I and more than 40 others that I know tow a Miata as do several others on this Forum. According to Mazda, NO Miata is towable.
With the probably low numbers of people who desire to tow one, maybe BMW just does not want to spend the $$ to certify the car as towable.
