The ones in the back better have smaller hips...even in my Tahoe.

I have the Edge, and yes it can seat 3 full sized adults in the back. They should all be friends and I would not want to take them on a long trip. A few of my friends are rather large, but can still get them all in the Edge to run out to dinner. SIL is 6'4" and he says is still comfortable in back seat.

BTW, our Edge is 4200 lbs and tows wonderfully.

We tow a Ford Flex. I doubt you would find another car with as much room as the Flex has in the back seat. Leg room, head room, etc. It is under 5,000 lbs and we tow it with a diesel pusher.

Are you lookin for new or used? The 2019 Edge is not on Fords 4 down towable list. I have been told the only 2019 Edge towable 4 down is the ST model.

I've done pretty extensive looking at this point and it would seem not one single car manufacture has a car that has a back seat wide to fit 3 adults for any period of time. The widest back seat seems to be that of the full size pickups with crew cabs and SUV's based on them. For example the 18 Silverado Crew Cab has 40.5 head room, 40.9 leg room, 65.7 shoulder room, and 60.2 hip room.

Compare that to say a 16 Nissan Altima (our old car). Headroom 37.1, legroom 36.1, shoulder 56.4, hip, 52.1. Most cars and smaller SUV's are around this same size with few exceptions. The edge is a bit bigger, head 39.3, leg 39.6, shoulder 58.7, hip 56.1.

So it would seem to really haul 5 adults in comfort for more than 15 minutes, you have to look at something with 3 rows, or a full size SUV/Pickup.

My 2018 Explorer weighs in at 5,030 lbs (CAT Scale)and has 3 rows of seating. I've yet to put someone in the 3rd row but there seems to be plenty of room to seat 5 adults in the first 2 rows.
