All a A/B switch does is mechanically switch the outputs so it can be used in either direction. To verify take it apart.
You would have to try the switch and see if the switching was fast enough that the dish stays up.
Otherwise add a switch to the dish motors so that they cannot drop the dish. I'm assuming that this DC connection has nothing to do with the signal.
Or ask RF Mogul for advice as they now repair MotoSat.
