Direct TV Satellite Antenna

There is nothing currently out there that will do everything you want for DTV...dish must access three different sats for HD, unlike Dish Network.

First do you really need in motion?
Winegard makes the winegard swm3, HD and SD for Direct Tv.
RF Mogul makes the DirecTVTMSWM RFM4100 Same HD and SD for Direct TV

As you have discovered, DirecTV, HD and In-Motion does not exist. Pick the two that are most important to you.

I have four HD direct TV DVRs, I leave two home to record local channels and bring two with me. I have the Winegard SK-3005 TRAV'LER Gray DIRECTV Slimline KA/KU Multi-Satellite TV Antenna which does everything except work while in motion. That is not important because I have a tow behind RV. If I had a class "A" I would probably have the same set up because it gets better reception and pulls in signals better that the in motion dome antennas. You always have the option of playing a DVD or you can record shows while you are parked at a camp ground and save them on your hard drive then watch those shows while moving.

You can still boot up a Direct TV DVR even with the dish not locked in to a satellite and after a few minutes the play list will display all the shows on your play list then you can just choose a show and watch it

I am aware that you can call Direct TV and have they enable your dish to receive local channels in what ever area you happen to be traveling in but if I did that the home TV would not be able to receive the local stations, and that is why I prefer to record the local stations at home and watch the show when I get back

Maybe the OP can help me out with this but I do not understand why anyone would want to watch TC while moving. A couple years ago my cousin took a trip in the car and he bought a small DVD player so his kid could watch movies. I guess things are different now but when I was a young kid I had the best show any person could want by looking out the windows of the car. Sixty years ago my father drove fron LI NY to FL and I can still remember all the cool stuff I saw along the way. I never said anything to my cousin but I think he cheated his kid out of a great experience from not looking at all the scenery along they way. I am single and drive by myself and if I take a girlfriend I still drive but sometimes I would love to just be a passenger. If I were just a passenger I sure as heck would be looking out the window instead of looking at TV.

OK, serious answer. In-motion is not really important, just checking all options. The antenna that quit on me is stationary, and my repair man said it's not worth it to try to repair it. It's probably as old as the MH - a 2005/2006 model.

I'm leaning toward the same antenna you have - the Direct TV Slimline Trav'ler.
Out of curiosity, why the big price differential in the Trav'ler on sale for $1799 and the in-motion Roadtrip Minimax on sale for $799?

Travler gets HD and minimax doesn't would be my guess. ..

Check around....got our Travler for $1350 two years ago at Adventure RV online...

Just checked they have it for $1548, but you will have to install. DH says it's an easy job...he has done a few.
