Put me in the camp that thinks the new interiors are just way too dark! It's like walking into a cave. At the last RV show we went into, when you walk into the unit, it's dark. YET, every light in the rig is ON. So, unless you're out in the sun, it's going to be dark.
Of course, they do it to hide flaws and it apparently allows them to use cheaper materials. Several of the units we were in have "plastic" wood mouldings instead of actualy wood. By keeping things dark, it's harder to tell that it's plastic instead of wood.
We ordered our motorhome with the upgraded cabinet package and a light maple stain. We loved it then (13 years ago) and love it now. It's nice and bright and cheery inside. I would not buy and RV with the dark interior. Not that we're in the market, but if and when we are, the interior will be light and cheery NOT dark and dreary. :)
