- STBRetiredExplorerLike ScottG said, DW tabs need HOT water to be effective. It is also a fairly corrosive detergent and I would be worried what it would do to the rubber seals on the dump valves. A healthy squirt of Dawn dish detergent before you hit the highway with about 10 gallons of water in the tanks will do a decent job of getting rid of any residual gunk clinging to the sides.
- ScottGNomadDW tabs and detergents don't do a lot in holding tanks because there isn't enough heat to break them down.
You'd also need a ton of them to do anything. - 2oldmanExplorer II

Kinda goes along the same lines as never putting toilet paper in it, to never doing #2 in it, to never using it. To each his own, but that's just weird.troubledwaters wrote:
I always wonder the same thing.
Why do I need to clean my black tank (or gray tank for that matter). I don't intend to eat or drink out of it and next time I use it I'm just going to **** in it again. - Turtle_n_PeepsExplorer

I was at a dump station once and just got my BT dumped and all cleaned up. My daughter asked me for the keys to the trailer. You guessed it. She wanted to "dirty up" my BT again. :R
That's why I never use a washer or any of that stuff. - GordonThreeExplorer

Residual odor perhaps? - 2oldmanExplorer IINo, I use my onboard flusher every now and then.

- wa8yxmExplorer IIIDo not know the answer but what's wrong with a half cup each Calgon water softener and Dawn (Regular not antibacterial) dishwashing liquid.. THat is the standard.
No need to wait for them to dissolve or if using powdered calgon faster dissolve.
