Ouch! I had a similar Blazer and it was too underpowered to tow anything. At one point, though, people need to do their own research and become responsible for their own actions. It reminds me of when we bought our house and the banks said we could afford a large mortgage. Maybe we could have, but we would have not felt comfortable doing so. We considered our own financial situation, determined what else we like to do that costs money besides paying a mortgage and made a decision based on what we feel comfortable with.
Bottom line, even if a dealer lies or pushes the envelope on what you can tow, people need to do a little research and take responsibility for their own decisions.
