Do Hosts Do This?

I had live fire training and a fitness challenge out of town the last couple of days and took the camper over to a great little campground to ensure plenty of sleep.

On the second night, storms were forecasted to roll through and from the radar/tv I could see that we were going to get them. I battened down and went to bed at 9. At 9:30 the campground host is knocking on the door to wake me up and tell me about the severe weather likelihood and what emergency facilities were available. I appreciated it, but had already reviewed the safety information. Do hosts normally go around knocking on doors of RVs with no interior lights on to warn of weather? It was a first for me and thankfully the nice angel on my shoulder prevailed in my choice of attitude and words.

  • There are some in the world who mean good and how were they to know that you already knew of the approaching storms?? Would you be griping if they hadn't taken time to tell you and the storm hit?? Not too many would do that while I'm camping I do keep an eye on the weather and will advise others around me if the weather looks like it bad go bad and one campground I was at the rangers went out in a middle of the night storm to check on tent campers which I thought was nice of them yeah it was a bad storm and I even thought about the tent campers as I was up most of the night riding the storm out.
  • I'm not sure, But would you have been pissed off at him/her if they knew some info that could have saved your life or kept your stuff from being damaged.

Remember "Angles" come in all forms even the pesky person who woke you.
  • YUP!

God bless the host that he was concerned enough to consider your safety. Lots of other campers might not have your expertise :).
  • aGAIN - THANK THAT HOST FOR DOING HIS/HER JOB - ENSURING THAT ALL GUESTS ARE TAKEN PROPER CARE OF!!

OOPS sorry about the caps - senior moment- but maybe the message did deserve a shout out??
  • I agree so many people have no clue. My guess is 60 percent.

    Pogoil.
  • I would hope so! Imagine if You were oblivious to the Storm Warnings and woke up floating down that pretty creek that runs along the Camp Ground!

It is the Duty of Every Responsible Owner or Manager of a Lodging House,Rv Park or any other Business to advise their customers of any danger that might affect them!
  • We live in a society where common sense is rare.

The host should be commended for giving you the heads up.
